BC Travel Agency Compliance Checklist

Consumer Protection BC says businesses providing travel services to the public may need a travel licence, including home-based or branch operations. Confirm the correct licence before selling regulated travel services.

Only display an IATA, TICO, ACTA, host agency, or supplier accreditation number after written approval. If working under a host agency, show only the approved wording.

Receipts should identify the business, customer, services, supplier, travel dates, amounts, taxes, fees, payment method, cancellation rules, and booking references.

Travel insurance sales and advice may require appropriate licensing or provider rules in BC. Use licensed insurance partners and provide policy wording before purchase.

Confirm traveller names, dates, passports, visa responsibility, airline baggage rules, supplier penalties, refund limits, schedule changes, and service fees in writing before collecting payment.

Collect only what is required for quoting. Avoid storing card numbers, passport scans, or sensitive medical details on the website. Use secure supplier or payment portals.
